Why Product Management

In my previous roles as a designer, I had put a lot of energy into creating recyclable events and furniture to combat waste, and later joined Car Next Door for it’s sustainability mission. During this time, I had started to feel my contribution to our society was not as grand as I had hoped it to be. I felt that in order to make meaningful change, I had to be in the driver’s seat and Product Management seemed like a good place to start.

Since my time as a Product Manager at Uber Carshare, I realised this was a space where I can positively impact many people very quickly and I found the work very rewarding.

What fascinates me

When I was a child I took a lot of things apart, endlessly curious about how things worked. Cameras, toys, and a fax machine that once electrocuted me. But that didn’t stop me from trying to understand how the paper could be sent through a wire.

I moved to Australia at age 12 and was very much thrown into the deep end! Naturally, I questioned the Australian way and how different it was from Japan. I’ve never lost this curiosity and love learning about new cultures and why we are the way we are.

In my spare time

I love the outdoors, bouldering, multi-day hikes, running and more. If you have any hiking suggestions, I’d love to hear it. On rainy days you’ll find my playing my guitar, inviting friends for board games or binging a show I’d soon forget about entirely. Big lover of dogs and animals in general, but who isn’t
